Why are Hawaiian people so arrogant?

I used to have these Hawaiian friends and we stopped hanging out due to them being complete jerks for no reason. Throughout our friendship, I noticed arrogance, rudeness and the mindset that they were better than everyone. Why is this? Why are Hawaiians so.......... arrogant and prideful?!?!
