Why is there such a pressure to take a side on the theist/atheist debate?

Yes it is. How can any ytical mind not see the problem in taking a side in a debate that cannot be proven either way ? I know the atheist will say "see, no proof", yet can we, as evolved but still barbaric creatures truly grasp the concept of "God" ? The theologian says "see, this book says its true" which, lacking any real evidence is also ludicrous. I take the third stance. Agnostic
